For this assignment, you will be working in your cohort to identify strategies for revising thesis statements, a necessary skill in the writing process.

Directions:

  1. Click the Text Icon Feature and choose a color for your font. Type your name onto the document in that color.
  2. In this collaborative document, post an old thesis statement from either Essay 1, your timed essay, or an essay you’re working on right now.  IIt doesn’t have to be good. In fact, the goal here is to examine what needs to be improved and why.
  3. Review the basic features of a thesis statement (pgs. 17-19 of the Hacker handbook).
  4. Then return to this collaborative document and review the thesis statements of your cohort.  
  5. Identify the issue/problem with the thesis and offer at least 1 strategy for improvement.
  6. Please elect one member to upload your cohort's final collaborative document to Assignments (one assignment upload per cohort).
