Our English 900 ePortfolio Assignment:
For our purposes, you will create an assessment portfolio that will collect high stakes and low stakes artifacts from English 1A and English 900 that demonstrate accomplishment in our Student Learning Outcomes and Student Performance Objectives. We will use CANVAS to develop our ePortfolios.
Due Date: Last two weeks of term.
Project Components:
How you decide to organize the material below is up to you. I ask only that every student have a “home” or “landing” page and explanatory statement of the ePortfolio (as in, what is this thing the reader is about to read?). Other portions can be organized as you wish. You should incorporate your personality into your portfolio, but remember the object is to demonstrate accomplishment of SLO's and SPO's.
- Home/Landing Page and Explanatory Statement of the ePortfolio
- Bio and Contact info (Consider incorporating a photograph.)
- A minimum of 1 high-stakes/major artifact per English 900 Student Learning Outcome
- A minimum of 1 high-stakes artifact OR several low-stakes artifacts to address the English 900 Student Performance Objectives
- At least 100 words of reflective commentary per artifact.
- Be sure to include a description of the artifact and its goals, your reasons for choosing the artifact, and your analysis of how the artifact illustrates your accomplishment of and achievement in the SLO or SPO.
- Some other cool (optional) stuff: Meaningful quotes, commentaries, research, and more that helps to showcase your accomplishment.
Grading Parameters:
- You must attempt the project and turn in the project in some form in order to pass English 900.
Some notes about assembling artifacts and composing your reflections:
- As you get ready to assemble your artifacts and write your reflection(s), think about some of the following:
- Consider an assignment or experience that made you feel the most successful. Describe the experience. What did you learn? Do the same for an assignment or experience that made you feel least successful. Describe the experience. What did you learn?
- What do you notice about your successes and failures?
- Has your “mindset” changed in any areas over the course of this semester? Explain—if so, how so? If not, why not?
- Articulate several insights that you have learned about yourself as a reader, a writer, and a critical thinker over the course of this semester.
- What was the purpose of the assignment/experience, and what skills did you gain from the assignment and/or experience?
- What would you like to improve upon for next semester?
Have fun with this assignment, and remember that it is something you will continue to contribute to throughout college and into your careers.
Make it a reflection of YOU!
