Reading Strategies Review
For some of you, reading may be a fairly easy activity. There are many students who easily transition into college reading; they're good readers who may have learned various methods or utilize certain tools to achieve understanding, comprehension, and master of reading material.
For some students, however, the transition into college reading can be a bumpy one. Reading for pleasure is a fairly passive skill. Occasionally our minds may veer off into imagination and creating scenes in our minds, but for college reading, we're often met with lengthy texts and are asked to analyze, reflect, and even argue with ideas and concepts in the text.
In order to complete these critical reading skills, we need to approach our college reading a bit differently form the reading for pleasure that we each may be familiar with.
Before we begin talking about some of the strategies that may be useful to you, lets review why reading is an important skill at all.
