Now that this course is nearing the end, it is great for me to reflect back on the goals, skills, tactics I utilized to receive the most out of the course. For my first assignment, I reflected on “Goal-Setting” in a discussion and it influenced me to manage my time more effectively. Although, it has been a challenge with scheduling around internships and other activities, it has been a worthwhile skill to learn how to schedule times efficiently along with already set schedule and activities.

Managing time has been more of a challenge than my goal to communicate clearly. I remember that I said that no one truly will know what I am saying unless I plainly state it. Therefore, I took this into consideration with all my discussion posts and replies and used other communication tools such as messaging, group formations and collaborations to gain further insight and other opinions on the material. This was a promise that I wanted to keep to fully engage not only the material but with other students’ views too especially when participating in group projects. Usually it is hard for me to trust in group member during group projects and this was specifically a personal challenge because I didn’t know anyone before this internship and only interacted with people through discussions. Thus, it was hard to believe that our powerpoint presentation collaborations would be completed in a timely manner without meeting, but fortunately it did. Our group projects meshed well because we were able to communicate effectively online as a team on projects to receive great feedback and grades.

Also, in addition, my goal was to stay organized throughout this short summer course. In normal classes I have been able to visual what the teacher is saying, but because of the lack of social and verbal cues it is hard to know what the requirements some assignments. Thus, when I don’t understand assignments I spend less time on them as instinct. So it was a challenge for me to stay on task and stay organized because I would want to jump to the next module if another module didn’t interest me or if I didn’t understand it. Also, because I am used to having physical hand out of assignments, it was a new challenge attempting to be switch what is online to in person. It is hard to translate the ideas and requirement from online to my brain and then make my thoughts in tangible content online. In the end it was a great experience to learn new ideas but with a different method because in real life some ideas aren’t always tangible but it is great to view them in a different way to understand them better; this experience was similar to my online experience.
