The image of Africa shows the distribution of religions in Africa. The pattern on the map shows a bilateral fold through the middle with the dominating religion of the northern part being Islamic whiles the southern areas being primarily Christian. This could be due to the geographical location of the middle east where Islamic religions are mainly practiced. The religion likely traveled southwest into Africa and stayed there overtime through tradition. The explanation of Christianity is probably due to the trade which occurred in the southern regions of Africa. Many European nations had colonies located in the southwest parts, such as in South Africa. After seeing this map, I wonder why there is such a clean cut between predominantly Christian and Islamic people through the center, and whether or not it could be due to the desert. I also wonder why the northern areas didn’t convert into Christianity as there was a lot of trade going on in the northern areas as well. Good post!

The map of the languages spoken in Switzerland to me is a prime example of relocation diffusion. The neighboring countries of Switzerland are France, Italy, Germany, and Austria. With France to the east, the eastern areas of Switzerland are filled with French speakers. The same can be said of the south with Italy and the north with Germany. While I’m not sure where Romansh originated from, my hypothesis is that Austria is likely to have been filled with many people speaking Romansch, or Romansh could have been the native tongue of Switzerland, or perhaps Romansh came from Romania in the east. As such, after seeing this map, I wonder where Romansh originated from, and why German is spread so influentially when Italy borders a larger area of the south. Good post!
