Certification Pathways

For faculty, there are 3 ways to get DE certified here at PCC:

• Complete the 8-week PCC OTC (Online Teaching Certification)
• Complete the 12-week OTD (Online Teaching and Design)
• Go through a Course Review for DE Equivalency

Option 1: Complete the 8-week PCC OTC

PCC's Online Teaching Certificate (OTC) course - Summer 2024

• Fully online 8-week facilitated asynchronous course
• Start Date: Monday, June 17th, 2024
• End Date: Sunday, August 11th, 2024
• Register for the 8-week Summer '24 PCC OTC Links to an external site.
• Important: Successful completion achieves DE certification in time for Fall 2024

Option 2: Complete the 12-week OTD

• @One's Online Teaching & Design Course Links to an external site.
• All Spring '24 sections are full. No current sections available.
• Check back at the end of the month for Summer '24 sections

Option 3: Request a Course Review for DE Equivalency

1. Email pcconline@pasadena.edu and request a Course Review for DE equivalency
2. In the email please include:
   1. A summary of your prior training and experience teaching online
   2. Attach any copies of certificates or links to digital badges you have earned

PCConline will set up a special Canvas shell where you will upload the course you will use during your review. Your course should include all the required elements for an online course from the OEI Course Design Rubric. Our evaluators will evaluate your course based on the Online Equivalency for Teaching Checklist.
