Edit Your Display Name in Pronto

Pronto picks up your name from Canvas’ “Display Name” field.  Therefore, if you want to edit your name in Pronto, you'll need to change your Display Name in Canvas to whatever you want displayed in Pronto.  Please note that it may take up to 6 hours to see your display name update in Pronto after changing it in Canvas.

How to Change your Display Name in Canvas

1. On the Canvas global menu, click Account.
2. Click settings.
    
   
   
   
3. Click the Edit Settings button on the right side of the screen.
   
   
   
   
4. Edit your Canvas Display name.  Whatever you put in this field will be reflected in Pronto.
5. Click the Update Settings button.
    

 

How to Change your Full Name and Sortable Name in Canvas

Please note that your Display Name is the only name field in Canvas that you can permanently change.  Your Full Name (and by extension, the Sortable Name) is pulled from LancerPoint.  If you change your Full Name in Canvas, it will automatically revert back, because Canvas periodically refreshes it's data from LancerPoint. 

If a you want to have your name change reflected everywhere  in Canvas, you will need to fill out a Preferred Name form with Admissions and Records.  Admissions and Records will then add a “preferred name” to your record in LancerPoint, which will then automatically load into Canvas, forcing the “Full Name” and the “Sortable Name” to change and stay that way.  Once Admissions makes the change in LancerPoint it may take about 24 hrs. to show correctly in Canvas.
