Goal #2: First Year Classes - College 1
College 1: Freshman Seminar
At PCC, all first time students are recommended to take College 1 in their first semester at PCC. This is a First Year Experience course that elevates and sustains our students' voices and experiences by focusing on the strengths they bring to higher education. The class will focus on an exploration of identity, skills, and interests as related to academic and career success. Topics and skills used in the course will include information literacy, college resources, behaviors and attitudes for student success to navigate the first year.
This UC and CSU transferable course not only helps you transition into the campus as a new college student, but also this course gives you 3 college units (credits) towards your graduation and/or transfer goals!
Additionally, students who complete our in-person or online JAM orientation AND take College 1 in their first semester can boost their early registration to PRIORITY registration! You will be able to tell us whether or not you want to opt into this priority registration when you fill out your intake form at the end of this workshop.
More information on Pathways FYE and Summer JAM can be found throughout our New Student Checklist.
